Blueberry Kale Smoothie

blueberry-kale-smoothieI realize that this is a crazy long list but cut out your processed foods and junk foods and you’re pretty much good to go. I’m a huge advocate of the farm to table approach and am always happy to support our local farms and markets.

I used to work for a local organic foods company where I live and people would constantly ask me why they should buy organic or natural. For me, it’s just how food was always meant to be. Real food minus all the crap.

I know I mentioned it before, but I just can’t get enough of this smoothie!

Thanks Angie. This is information that everyone should learn about. I don’t see any good in GMOs. Watermelon is my favorite example. When growing up with seeded melons they tasted much sweeter, the reason being, seeds produce a natural hormone that change the flavor of the crop. That’s why seedless melons taste less sweet and are more akin to flavored ice in my opinion.

Can’t wait to try one of your shakes, definitely something I could nosh on. ~.^ Thanks again for sharing!!

So true about organic food! The additional good thing about leaving processed food out of your diet is that it is much cheaper, too

  • Paul Anthony Prince says:

Or maybe I should have said flavorless ice, because your recipe for flavored ice looks amazingly delish!!

That’s why I love having a garden. Throughout the summer it goes from garden to table. To make this last I can a lot from the garden, it gets us through until the next season and the freshness is in each jar…yay! Great video, I need to try and find a few things on there. Your smoothie sounds great, in fact your smoothie recipe is probably the best one I’ve seen by far!

that’s why I always eat ungenetically modified bacon

  • Hannah (BitterSweet) says:

As long as they don’t touch our kale, we will persevere! It’s a broken system that can only continue hobbling along for so long. More people than ever are demanding change, and if there’s one thing these companies care about, it’s money. They will go where the money is, and that’s why it’s more important than ever to buy organic.

  • Suzie says:

Had to come back and say I bought the acai juice today! Yay!! So happy I could find it here…smoothies for breakfast

I just read an article that was forwarded to me today about how Monsanto’s GMO corn was fed to rats and how they developed tumors and organ damage EEK!

I knooow I practically lived on canned soup and ramen at university. I’d say stick to as many whole foods as possible.

  • Cakelaw says:

I am also in favour of farm to the table but find it hard to do as a city slicker.

  • Paul Anthony Prince says:

Finally got my lazy butt around to trying this out. Got all my ingredients ready to toss in the blended but I forgot to get nanners >.< So I tossed a Greek yogurt in the freezer while I got ready and used it instead once it was semi frozen. It still turned out fantabulous!!

Thanks for sharing this super-food way to start your day!!

    Warmest Regards,
    Paul

  • The Squishy Monster says:

LOVE greek yogurt. I’m very glad you got to try this. It’s something that I’ve convinced everyone but my baby brother to take

  • Paul Anthony Prince says:

Ok… random question here. I was re-stocking on my ingredients for your amazeballs shakes and I had a question about your nanners. Do you peel them before you freeze them? I tossed mine in the freezer without thinking and went to grab one and couldn’t figure out how to peel a frozen banana. ~.^ I’m wondering if I ruined them by doing that. >.<

Thanks in advance^^ Hope you're having a great week and an awesome Halloween.

    Warmest Regards,
    -Paul

  • The Squishy Monster says:

Hey Paul! Great question. I like to buy a bunch that are on the clearance rack, peel, quarter, and spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet. When they’ve individually frozen, I freeze them in portioned bags/tupperware, tagged with labels with dates on them. Allowing them to thaw and come to room temperature make baking breads/muffins/cakes convenient for whenever you’re ready to use them. For whole frozen Bananas, simply allow them to thaw and cut off one end. Despite their browned “clothes,” the fruit inside is fine. Just gently squeeze (like toothpaste) or cut down the entire length of it with a sharp paring knife. Hope this helps =)
