Eating with the Enemy
I realize that this is a crazy long list but cut out your processed foods and junk foods and you’re pretty much good to go. I’m a huge advocate of the farm to table approach and am always happy to support our local farms and markets.
I used to work for a local organic foods company where I live and people would constantly ask me why they should buy organic or natural. For me, it’s just how food was always meant to be. Real food minus all the crap.
Here’s my “health-haul” video, just in case you missed it.
I know I mentioned it before, but I just can’t get enough of this smoothie!
Ingredients
- 1 c Organic Kale
- 1/2 c Frozen Blueberries, Dark Cherries or Açaí
- 1 Frozen Banana
- 2 tb Organic Ground Flax
- 2 c Unsweetened Almond Milk
Instructions
- Toss everything into a blender and blitz. Add more milk for a thinner consistency.
Notes
Add-in’s that I also like: Wheat Germ, Whey/Hemp Protein, Spirulina, Spinach, Kefir, or Cacao Nibs!

I drink this every morning and take them unsweetened but if I’m making them for my brothers, I drizzle in a bit of Agave or toss in a few extra berries

Maybe I couldn’t cut down on this huge junkfood list entirely but for your smoothies I would
Looks delicious!

Angie.Lots of informative and interesting information here.Makes one think…
I love your healthy haul video! Wonderful, healthy , delicious products there!
Smoothies are the best I agree!
Thanks for sharing this information. Have a great day!
xoxoxo.
Les.
Thanks Angie. This is information that everyone should learn about. I don’t see any good in GMOs. Watermelon is my favorite example. When growing up with seeded melons they tasted much sweeter, the reason being, seeds produce a natural hormone that change the flavor of the crop. That’s why seedless melons taste less sweet and are more akin to flavored ice in my opinion.
Can’t wait to try one of your shakes, definitely something I could nosh on. ~.^ Thanks again for sharing!!
So true about organic food! The additional good thing about leaving processed food out of your diet is that it is much cheaper, too
Or maybe I should have said flavorless ice, because your recipe for flavored ice looks amazingly delish!!
good post! And a great breakfast smoothie
I’ve been trying to get kale over here and I can’t find it…
That’s why I love having a garden. Throughout the summer it goes from garden to table. To make this last I can a lot from the garden, it gets us through until the next season and the freshness is in each jar…yay! Great video, I need to try and find a few things on there. Your smoothie sounds great, in fact your smoothie recipe is probably the best one I’ve seen by far!
that’s why I always eat ungenetically modified bacon
As long as they don’t touch our kale, we will persevere! It’s a broken system that can only continue hobbling along for so long. More people than ever are demanding change, and if there’s one thing these companies care about, it’s money. They will go where the money is, and that’s why it’s more important than ever to buy organic.
Had to come back and say I bought the acai juice today! Yay!! So happy I could find it here…smoothies for breakfast
Love that stuff…yay, Suzie!!
I just read an article that was forwarded to me today about how Monsanto’s GMO corn was fed to rats and how they developed tumors and organ damage EEK!
Double YUM!
I’m so jelly about your garden—my ultimate dream includes owing a garden one day (have you seen Ina’s? I die)!!! =D
I’ve also done this with Spinach and enjoy that as well =D
Love this smoothie!!
ohhh yes =D
aw, thanks Paul!!
I had no idea about the hormones that seeds carry…see? Ya do learn something new everyday
Thank YOU, Les =D
It’s super hard (the evil craving devil is always on the verge of attack)!
Good cause! I buy as much as I can right off the farm. I like to know “where my food has been!”
This is such great breakfast smoothie. Will try it out soon!
Yes, I’ve seen hers. I hate her….ha ha ha…just kidding
That list is really massive. What am I going to eat as a University student now?
I hope you love it!!
I most definitely agree!!
That’s quite a list, but if it means better food, no problem!
I knooow I practically lived on canned soup and ramen at university. I’d say stick to as many whole foods as possible.
I am also in favour of farm to the table but find it hard to do as a city slicker.
