A Collection of 5 Minute Fixes
Banchan aka side dish, and to begin our collection, here are a few Korean side dishes, that along with this beautiful crunchy broccoli salad comes up in mere minutes.
Drinks that can be whipped up in 5 minutes:
Blueberry Kale Smoothie, my favorite!
Even Rice Cakes can be made in just 10 minutes. {Not bad for something that used to take hours}!
To make this beautifully crunchy and flavorful Broccoli Salad, you don’t even need 10 whole minutes. You’re just 5 minutes away from a unique salad that can be eaten as is or tumbled into Bibimbap!
- 1 Head Broccoli, cut into Florets
- 3 tb Gochujang (Korean Hot Pepper Paste)
- 1 tb Sesame Oil
- 1 tb Sesame Seeds
- 2 ts Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 tb Brown Sugar
- Black Pepper
- Green Onion Garnish.
- Boil your water and salt it well.
- Toss in your florets and cook for no longer than 3 minutes.
- Immediately plunge them into an ice bath to stop the cooking process and retain their vibrant green color.
- Tumble in all of your ingredients and mix well. Garnish with green onions.
- Serve immediately, at room temperature, in bibimbap, or keep in the fridge.
Cheers to eating your vggies! {Mom would be so proud}
Love,
{and 5 minute fixes},
Your Squishy Monster ^.~

I’m a big broccoli fan
Realistically, that’s all we have time for sometimes, huh?
and broccoli loves you (he told me)
All things from the sea are great and many are good for us and tasty Angie.I have tried and love all the fishies, squid , etc you have here , LOVE EM ALL!! Very heakthy , colorful, easy dishes here Angie! Love the various colors( ESPECIALLY THE GREEN) on your finger nails in the videos.
OOOOOOOOOOO! my!! Naked broccoli waiting to be dressed ? Lol. Well I love it and all vegies. Not as a child I did not.
Have a great day!!
Les.
lol—I realized I said that too late. My Mama really began my love for all things veggie and it’s bc of her that I’m a HUGE veggie lover =)
I suppose I will have to break down and order some Gochujang online b/c I still can’t find it here, not even in my Asian market. Been looking for over a year! And I really would like to try this. We have a broccoli salad in the midwest that has a mayo-based sauce and has onions, raisins, cheddar cheese, bacon, and sunflower seeds in it. I think the Korean version sounds just as good…and much healthier.
I love Korean side dishes. Since I don’t have access to Korean food where I am, I’ll have to learn how to make it. Do post more side dishes recipe. Do you have a good kimchi recipe as well?
Great collection of recipes!
That broccoli looks soooo darn good. Love your blog, love Korean food.. You have fabulous style darling.

Oh myyyyy~ that does sound super easy and super tasty too. I know the kids will like this one. They go crazy when I break out my steamer and start choppin broccoli. They just love the lemon peppered kind.

Sweet, spicy, tart and tangy… describing yourself or the dish ~.^
Tried your kale smoothie this morning and loved it!! My daughter and my father want me to make them one tomorrow Your ‘Otai drink looks just as tasty too. Gonna have to try it out soon.

Oh, I like 5- or 10-minute fixes! These are life savers when I’m having a busy mommy day! I have some frozen Korean rice cakes right now. Gotta do something with those!
YUM!
SO delicious
lol, poor Mom…I suppose the silver lining here is that at least you weren’t the “I’ve never eaten anything but chicken nuggets” lady
YAAAY!
It would work with any veggie (my mom likes to sprinkle salt on the slices-wait, and squeeze out excess moisture for cucs).
It’s a battle between Broccoli, Kale, and Spinach for me. Thank YOU! =)
and super easy, I hope you try it =)
It’s always tough to choose between a Korean or American counterpart. I think I love both equally =)
If you click on Bibimbap, it will lead you to at least 4 more and in my recipe index tab, there are a plethora of Korean dishes to choose from. Happy eating!! =)
why thank ya =)
Says the oh-so-Ms.Fabulous! ^.~
YOU are a hoot, Paul!
Hope your little one isn’t too turned off by the kick (maybe reduce it to 1 or 2 tb, instead) lol
Thanks, Amy =)
Thanks, Liz =)
Great timing! =)
Now if only I could meet a spicy man, LOL
I *think* you can get it online but eventually, I’ll do a tutorial on how to make your own =)
Mama loves this stuff =)
LOVE LOVE LOVE the video!! You are a natural at this, my friend And the egg crate thing is a great idea!
You really do need your own television show. There is one with only 5 ingredients currently. Your 5 minute fix is even better! The fact that you already make your own videos and are a natural will just help you in showbiz
That broccoli salad looks fabulous–and I love that it’s so quick to prepare.
I love broccoli, and wouldn’t mind having a entire bowl to myself . Thanks for coming over too, truly appreciate the support. I’m off to further explore your recipes. Have a great week! Cheers, Jo
Hi Angie, Delicious quickie meal in 5 mins and 5 steps. I love it and good for full time working mother like me who still prepared 3 meals before and after work.
Love your video, you’re excellent.

Have a nice week ahead,regards.
It’s like you KNOW that I have broccoli sitting in my fridge. AWESOME.
i adore korean food, and it’s always a game to me to see what banchan we’ll get when we go out to eat. my favorite, other than the stir fried anchovies, is a sweetish potato salad. i attempted to make it once at home, and it’s actually one of my more hit upon posts, and tho it was edible, it just was not the same as what i’m used to.
Love, love broccoli and I bet I would love the spicy Korean paste. Great five minutes recipes!
Thank you =)
Oh yum! All of these sound fantastic! I’m sure I’d love the spicy Korean paste – sounds wonderful
You are SO adorable on camera! I love your enthusiasm and manner, it’s infectious

Just saw your bibimbap and now I started to drool. That’s my favorite Korean dish. Thanks for sharing the collection so that we can check/revisit your recipes this time. I love banchan!!!
It’s the best of both worlds
Thanks Kim! Have a great weekend.
I just had it for lunch, love the stuff!
Thank you for this recipe. Served it hot with rice and bulgogi. It was a perfect compliment to the meat. Just what I was looking for!
Very nice!!
