Thanksgivinspiration

My friends laugh at me that I refer to everything as a “blogortunity.”  Every time-never fails.  But you see, (and I’m sure you can relate) as a blogger, your life becomes so inextricably tied to your online baby.  You birthed it, nourish it, and are constantly pushing it to be the best version of itself.  It almost reminds me of the digital/virtual pets I had as a kid.  I was as much OCD then as I am now and crazy little me stayed up school nights to ensure that my “pet” was being well fed and taken care of.  Does anybody remember those?  That’s where my blogortunity and Thanksgivinspiration comes in–hell, I just celebrated my Blogiversary so it makes sense to me, lol.

Here are some Thanksgiving friendly dishes that may come in handy for your Holiday meal.

How about some hot Pumpkin Spice Scones for Breakfast?  I love pairing mine with a tea misto or bold french press.

To accompany a great Turkey, one must also have stand out sides as well… Crostini with Homemade Goat Cheese and Balsamic Glazed Onions, Green Bean Casserole or Mac and Cheese.

For dessert, you could round out dinner with a Chai Cake or Apple Tart, with lots of freshly whipped cream or gelato!

I gathered my Thanksgiving menu on the plane back from LA because Thanksgiving is my very favorite Holiday, not to mention entire day dedicated to food (but really, who am I kidding?  Everyday is a food celebration here)! ;)

There may be a few revisions along the way but this is the basic draft.  I’m super stoked and even reserved a free range, organic Turkey and what is our city’s version of Whole Foods.

I’m excitedly anticipating the smells and sounds of Thanksgiving.  (Despite what retailers impose upon us, Thanksgiving is actually a separate occasion, not to serve as a speed bump to Christmas).

Love,

Your (slightly irritated that there’s already Christmas music and trees),

Squishy Monster ^.~

Oh wow, your Thanksgiving menu sounds wonderful! Would you believe that I haven’t planned what I’m going to bring to our family Thanksgiving dinner yet? Or what I’m making for my husband’s office Thanksgiving potluck? I’m missing out on some good blogortunities here! for real, i need to start thinking about what to make ASAP! =)

I’m aging myself here but, my son had those virtual pets! That is too funny! Yes, our blog certainly becomes a part of our life. I think of certain people when I see certain things and it makes me smile. It’s an awesome community to be a part of. Your menu is very impressive, you must have a large gathering. Ours is pretty small. And I’ve been watching Christmas movies, just because they are cheerful, please don’t kick my butt xoxo

Thanks for the Thanksgivinspiration! I too have slowly come to think differently b/c of my blog, and will think “I need to take a picture of this for my blog” at a time when in the past a photo would have been the last thing on my mind. LOL! It really does become interwoven with your life. your menu souns superb–are you cooking all that yourself and hosting a dinner? I’ve only done that a couple times, but now we mainly go to my in-law’s home and I just help with a few things before we eat. This year instead of celebrating Thanksgiving, I will be frosting a wedding cake, but I do hope we can find a restaurant that is open so I can get some sort of festive meal!

Fantastic compilation! It must be very frustrating having Xmas stuff before Thanksgiving! We don’t do Thanksgiving here, obviously but I can appreciate as it pops up before Halloween.

Angie. Try not to let the commercialism bother you. As long as we in our hearts know what season this is. Easter add appear in January! My late great sister Jean used to hate that! So do several of my friends.

Lol. I remember virtual pets Angie. I never had one though. Had fish cat etc. That is a blast from the past.

Wonderful delicious recipes you have on here Angie! Thanks for sharing!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanks Giving Angie!

    Love.

    Les.

Great post! We don’t really have Thanksgiving in Australia here but I always hear about my American friends’ epic Thanksgiving meals with serious envy. I’d love to have a Thanksgiving dinner one time just because! Why not right??

I can totally relate. I was late with my Sunday post and I felt so guilty. I put it up 10 minutes ago and felt such relief! Thanks for the ‘Thanksgivinspiration’! We are doing a belated thanksgiving on the 2nd of December. Tylers Dad is American so he bought the holiday with him

  • Amelia says:

Hi Angie, wow your Thanksgiving menu look excellent. I’m getting hungry by just looking at the menu.

My friends who don’t blog mention that I spent lots of time with my cyber baby more than anything else. More busy than my office work. LOL
I did spent lots of time playing with photography & creative food art cos both are my hobbies. Well, I’m happy with it cos meet lots of new friends, improve our cooking/baking skill too. And also a great way to pass my time and age gracefully. LOL

    Have a lovely week ahead,regards.

  • The Squishy Monster says:

My friends think I’m a lunatic, lol. I couldn’t agree more. I hope you have a great week as well, Amelia! Keep feeding me chocolate and I’m a happy girl =)

  • The Squishy Monster says:

I feel the same way, it’s crazy on one hand and great to feel industrious on the other, lol. YAY for celebrating Thanksgiving…it’s my absolute favorite time of year!
