Ginger Molasses Cookies
Does anyone else miss Mr. Rogers? He taught me so many valuable lessons as a kid. None of that high-fructose-dipped, “you feel like you’re on speed when you watch this” crap that’s on now. (Which by the way, he referred to as a “bombardment” even in the 60’s). Makes me sad. What’s gonna be left when and if I’m ready to have children of my own? I digress. I used to sprawl out on the floor, half leaning on my brother, sipping my favorite apple juice and listen to Mr. Rogers as he lent you valuable nuggets of wisdom. Dare I give him credit for laying the foundations for my Pack Away Hunger project? This was precisely why Mr. Rogers was so important. He taught you, whether it be in real life or make-believe, that it was important to treat people well, to be honest, to work hard…
I’m not ashamed to say that I love Mr. Rogers.
He’s also inspired me to share cookies. (Cookies take priority, haha). Won’t you be my neighbor?

These cookies look delicious, also, btws!
I used to stay home from school and watch Mr. Rogers…even as a teenager
I love a good cookie
I cried when he passed
Thank ya, Kayle =)
Mr. Rogers was a wonderful man. Yes I remember the days in the nineteen sixties and early nineteen seventies when There were positive CHILDREN’S television programs. Programs not telling them parents and all adults are their enemy. When subliminal, sexual, other messages were not being dumped on children.Public broadcasting , even local is not the same with out him. Thank GOD most if not all his programs were recorded and are still available and relavent and will be forever Angie. Wonderful post!

I love your love for mr. rogers. I used to watch him a lot, but I was never really a huge fan. But I can see the appreciation! And I want those cookies.

Always Maylee
Hi,
Unfortunately I don’t know Mr. Rodgers, but the cookies look great, and oh yes I would love to be your neighbour.
I really miss Mr. Rogers and his positive messages now that I have my own son. I downloaded a bunch and stream them for him to watch!
Oh yes, Mr. Rogers. Things certainly have changed! I would love it, if you were my neighbor!

Aww, such a sweet post!
I hear he got his car stolen once and it was returned with a note apologizing, lol
Thanks, Unni!
I would LOVE you as a neighbor, Suzie!! Thank you for letting me know btw (still working on it and it’s crazy, lol)
I love that you’re doing that, Alyssa!
Yay =)
Thanks Yi-chia!
oh yes it is! =)
Does that mean I get to visit India with you soon? =)
OKay, this makes me wish we were neighbours. I’m sure your cookies were well received by your neighbour as they look absolutely delicious. Great video!
Thanks, Barb!
I had to Google who Mr Rogers was, and I’m glad I did. He sounds beautiful. I would love to be your neighbour, then we could swap cookies! Yours look fabulous (love ginger and molasses, especially together).
He really was. I was a freshmen in college when I found out he passed and everyone in my class had a moment of silence for a man who wasn’t our father who had taught us some of our very first lessons.
For these, I would love to be your neighbour
You are probably the same age as my children and they learned a lot from watching Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street. Great shows. These are delicious my dear!!
Sounds yummy!
I used to watch that show all the time when I was a kid. It seemed like the most idyllic neighborhood in the world, didn’t it? Ahhh, if only life could really be that peaceful. Maybe if we all had more cookies, it would be!
I hope Mr. Rogers in Heaven is smiling, lol
Thank you =)
You don’t wanna be my neighbor annnyways? =)
Yes he was. A champion for people , especially for children.
Mmm.. I love gingerbread cookies. So delicious! Are these soft or hard?
I liked Mr Rogers too, though I didn’t watch him when I was younger. We didn’t have Mr Rogers in England. We had the now, very infamous Jimmy Saville.
I also love ginger molasses cookies. Yours look amazing!
Nazneen
I will have to check out this Jimmy =)
If you bake ’em to the aforementioned time and allow them to rest on a cookie rack, they’re super soft and chewy. You could always add in a few more minutes to achieve a crispier/harder exterior =)
These look wonderful – ginger and molasses make for some seriously beautiful cookies!
Thanks, Christine!!
I <3'd watching Mr. Rogers!! He was an inspiration to me. I think the best lesson he taught was that everyone is unique and that's perfectly fine. It saddens me too that children don't have good influences on TV any more. It really has become an idiot box. :/ At least we can catch his words of wisdom in digital format.
Makes me sad too…you’re practically my neighbor, Paul =)
