Beach Bits
On the drive to the beach.
Lunch, recipe here.
Mussels posillipo (served at a “gourmet ocean side eatery”) where I found nothing “gourmet” but the prices.
After a weekend stuffed with deep fried seafood, I decided to take matters into my own hands with a low country boil, made with seafood caught that very day.
A stroll through the local town found me wistfully standing behind the windows of a cute but closed old fashioned taffy shop where the owner must have seen my expression from the back. He unlocked the door and allowed me to drop these colorful candies into a very happy paper bag.
While fishing, we caught a baby shark we threw back
and a skate that everyone else wanted to throw back as well but I knew it’d make for a most delicious salad.
On the way to the ferry, I nearly tripped on this little guy.
We ended the trip with refreshments at the bar they shot Safe Haven.
and bid goodbye as the sun set until next time.
I hope that everyone’s weekends were filled with good eats and beautiful moments.
Love,
Your Squishy Monster ^.~

I’m jealous. We’ve just been struggling with snow yuck roads, cancelled soccer games, cold, cold and more cold. The beach sure sounds nice now. Love the taffy…yum.

I’m anticipating the days where it’s warm throughout… I’m still sleeping with two comforters at the moment
My thoughts exactly… By the water is where I’ll retire
I nearly trampled it…eeeek!
Wish everyday were bursting with seafood
Everything looks good except for the taffy. I’m not too fond of the stuff.
This stuff was homemade in small batches and soooo delish….much better than the store bought, generic hydrogenated stuff.
Hi Angela, very nice pictures and delicious food except for the snake. Lucky you didn’t step on it…..*cold sweat*
Have a nice weekend.
Right? I stumbled and looked back and it was…a snake! lol
I got jitters and shaky just at the sight of that snake. Eww!!
Scared me a bit too as in that it was so random!
Woah what an awesome day! Can’t believe you caught a baby shark, it’s sooo cute. And that you nearly tripped over a snake?! Eeek I would be so freaked out lol.
Snake came out of noooo where!
Sharks, skates and snakes; oh my!
I spent every summer from age seven to seven-teen in Florida. I used to get lost in amazement watching the local salt-water taffy pullers do their stuff. I would stare at them for hours. What can I say, simple things amuse me.
LOVE a good salt water taffy…almost didn’t share, lol
This design is wicked! You obviously know how
to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my
own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Wonderful job. I really
loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
Too cool!
Thank you so much for your kind words. It really made my day. I hope you have a great rest of the week and keep on smiling!!!
