Weekend Bits

Did anyone catch the super moon?  Sadly, it was so over cast, I never soaked up the full impact of “the years biggest and brightest moon.”  Insert sad face.

However, I did get a chance to catch up with some folks, share a few meals, and do a boat load of yard work which I’m finding is really helping me de-stress lately.  I’m finding such satisfaction in spending an afternoon with the sun beaming down on my face with a pile of weeds growing larger as I work my way around the garden and yard.  (My bestie even helped us break down a few fences)!  There were solitary moments spent (unfortunately without a camera around) where I glimpsed butterflies and dragonflies gracefully swooping in the air around me which softened the irritating blow from the swarm of mosquitoes that apparently find me uber attractive.  I am now sporting so many blotches and bites that my legs now resemble those of a young child who fell down and scraped her knees one too many times.

The bounty of nature never ceases to amaze me.  Pink stargazer lilies to brighten my day,

despite an entire block of time filled with nothing but rain.

and even host a dinner of paella and kabobs for friends (brought to you in part by produce from our garden)

Lemons were on super sale this weekend so I baked up a lemon yogurt pound cake.

Lunch of papa rellena (a Peruvian dish of fried potato puff filled with meat, olives, and a hard boiled egg, served with salsa criolla).

Dinner for my bestie of kimchi fried rice, bulgogi, and tuna poke.

And to cap off the weekend, I re watched one of my all time faves.

What was your favorite part of the weekend?

Love,

Your Squishy Monster ^.~

WOW! Sounds like you had a great week end Angie! Great weather! Wonderful weather in spite of two short down pours and hail. Had a great week end myself. My favorite part of my week end was seeing some people I have not seen in a while and getting caught up on our lives and discusing changes in Illinois and in my town. I also watched a very interesting Dr who episode. I have not seen that program in a long time.

Lovely and delicious pictures Angie. Have a wonderful day and week!

    Love!

    Les.

It was so overcast by me too, Angela. I sat outside with my camera all ready and it just didn’t happen.

It sure sounds like you had a tasteful weekend. I celebrated my birthday and spent the day with my son. It was the best! I also happen to win some money, lol…

When food takes priority, it makes for a food filled weekend and as fellow foodies, we can all agree that’s what makes up the best weekends, right? =)

I hear so much about Trader Joe’s and there is not one around here. I feel so deprived…lol!! The cheese and meats is calling my name right now. I am finally able to get in the pool, it was chilly here and the past 4 days was awesome pool weather…yay!! I have lots of weeds to pluck but, dang it’s hard to get out of the water…ha! Sounds like a great weekend minus the storms

  • Norma Chang says:

I watched the super moon but unfortunately did not have my camera with me, no photo.

we had a bit of cloud cover as well, but we got to see the moon which was super bright! Sounds like you had a great weekend

  • Coffee and Crumpets says:

of course the one day where we want to see the super moon, the most dramatic show of lightning and thunderstorms happens! Typical. It was nice to get the rain because it cooled everything down nicely so I was ok with it. We were invited to dinner by some long time friends and we had a great Greek bbq and great conversation. Good weekend!

  • Paul Anthony Prince says:

Would have liked to have had a better view of the super moon but an overcast viewing would have to suffice.

Had a good cook-out at my nieces birthday party. Love the sssssssound of meat on the grill. And another birthday to celebrate this weekend too.

Ran into a friend I hadn’t seen in about half a year. We were worrying about him too. Glad he’s okay and back where he belongs.

Your lemon pound cake is making me uber hungry; never mind the bowl of ice-cream I just ate, I want some of that delicious pound cake!!

Hope your week is going well^^ Be blessed!

    Love & Prayers,
    Paul

  • The Squishy Monster says:
