Flu Essentials
As you know, the flu is no fun. I’m still experiencing the tail end of it now but here’s what got me through the worst of it.
Ginger & white teas with honey & lemon. Loose leaf silver needle is my go-to white tea and I make my own ginger tea by grating fresh ginger into equals parts honey.
Lots and lots of water and coconut water!
OJ
Chicken soup. Matzo ball & pho are also comforting. {}
Bananas, grapefruit, and {the last one is my favorite}!
Vitamin C, echinacea, zinc {it’s what I believe in, not for everyone}
What works for you when you’re sick?
Love,
Your Squishy Monster ^.~

Zinc is always on my ‘get over the flu’ list, together with ginger, lemon, honey and cinnamon tea and chicken soup. Feel better soon
Hi Angela, hope you feeling better by now. Wishing you speedy recovery and take care. *hugs to you.
Will be back later to catch up your previous postings. Take care!
I need someone to make me pho next time I have the flu! Or maybe right now – that would be good too. That’s it, pho for dinner tomorrow! YES! lol. I have had good results with healing baths – mixing 2 cups epsom salts and an entire large bottle of hydrogen peroxide in while filling a warm bath and soaking for at least 15 minutes. Feels like it pulls the sickness right out of you. Also, I swear by this remedy for tummy troubles (and also eat it when I’m not sick b/c I love it so much): http://www.anediblemosaic.com/?p=12706&cpage=1#
Thanks, I hope so too.
Pho is so amazing when you’re feeling under the weather. That sounds like a plan, V!
I’ll have to hunt down some cinnamon tea =)
Ah, cayenne! How brilliant.
Thanks, Uru!
Thank you, Les!!
Booo for this stupid bug (won’t allow us to taste our food, the WORST part)!
Oh Angela, I’m so sorry to hear you are under the weather. I do hope you are feeling better soon:)
Your flu essentials are right on spot! I need to keep them in mind. Love the notion of Cayenne as someone else said.
I just took a quick run over to my Honey board on Pinterest and I sound this recipe you might like just as much as the watermelon slushie. It’s called Shoo Flu Sorbet!
Stay well Angela, and thanks for sharing…
G’day Angela! Hope my comments finds you just that little bit better today!
Astragalia 8 (Chinese herb) …incredible, attacks cold, cough, flu symptoms and sends them quickly on its way!
Love Matzo Ball Soup and Pho…usually is a comfort food when am not feeling the best that brightens my day!
Cheers! Joanne
Feel better!
Feeling much better. Thank you, Joanne!
Very nice, thank you so much, Louise!
These are great suggestions and I use a lot of them myself! I’ve started taking immune defence tablets as I’m travelling a lot and it helps when you get on so many planes with so many people.
hope u get better soon. i usually use lots of ice cream + chocolate to get me thru when i sick. hehe
Dear Angela,
I love pho and I think that is the best remedy! Instant cure for blocked nose with a few fiery chillies to go with those awesome beef slices.
Yes!!
That’s a brilliant plan…that’s why you’re the Brain!
That’s really smart.
Hope you are feeling much better. I am into these types of teas and infusions too. I like to make ginger and cinnamon teat with a dash of tumeric. Or lemon and honey, and it sounds crazy but a whole clove of garlic..no it does not taste funny.
Great idea with the tumeric!
Well actually the real immune booster is lots of vitamins (C and B complex) and enought rest and sleep….
In Indonesia, we used to served a baked coconut with ginger and spice syrup with palm sugar, it works for me!
get well soon!
I’ve heard a toss up about D vitamin as well, wondering if it does well for colds/flus?
