Lies I Tell Myself
I once had a friend who seemed to lie about everything. Nothing was out of bounds, the small stuff, big stuff and everything in between. It was really hard to distinguish what was the truth and what was a lie. Sometimes, elaborate stories could be woven into a Tasmanian blur and would collide in such a disastrous end. It made it difficult to be their friend and inevitably, we went our separate ways.
Now, there are sweet little lies like “no baby, that dress does not make you look fat,” or telling your little one that fairies and unicorns are real. Then, there are the ones of Goliath proportions that should never be uttered in the first place. On the other hand, there are lies that we all tell ourselves. You know the ones. Today, I’m sharing some of mine.
- I will learn how to do yoga today and tomorrow, I’ll run a marathon. Good luck {to myself} burning off that 4th croissant I promised myself I would, haha.
- It was so not a big deal when I fell like a clumsy child during the first trip I took with J {it was endearing, I assured myself}.
- The ugly pastries don’t exist…because I gobble them up before anyone else can see.
- I’ll go to bed before 3 am. Nope. Not happening. Like ever.
- That I’m perfectly content with the fact that my partying days are over.
- That I’ll spend my next paycheck on something pretty, not just edible {I have no shoes but one very happy belly}.
- That I will stop being such a worrywart.
- “I’m hungry.” In truth, I have no self control and my belly is as greedy as it is insatiable.
- “I don’t know how this happened.” Oh yes I do!
- Sure, I feel sexy.
What are some lies you tell yourself?
Love,
Your Squishy Monster ^.~

This is such a fun post, Angie.
Of course, we all have lies that we tell ourselves. But who knows, maybe be oe day they become true.
Something like: “from tomorrow on no more chocolates ” :))
plenty lol–my big one is your #1
Now tell me what time do you usually go to bed if it’s not before 3am? p.s I usually get up before 5…but mostly 430am..
And you do look SEXY!!
Love the honesty in this post! It’s ironic, actually, how honest it is based on the content!
Totally relate to 1,3,8, 9 and 10. Hum a personal lie? I will cook at home every day when not going out and not get some take-out.
I find the allure of take out to be too tempting sometimes =)
lol!
It’s not unusual for me to be up past 4 editing videos, meal planning, compiling lists, and laying out recipe testing procedures or video scheduling for myself. I get glued to the computer and before I realize it..boom!
Makes me smile that y’all can relate =)
Why can it be that…tomorrow, I’ll have even more chocolates? I kid—{kind of}?
1. just 5 more minutes
2. just 10 more minutes
3. just 2.4*10^-9 nanoseconds
Your post made me smile Angela, and we all lie a little to ourselves.
Cheers,
C
I can relate to #4. I try to do way too many things in a single day which often leads to late nights!
Glad to know I’m not the only one.
Cheers!
Lol!
Interesting post Squishy!
I’m going to cut back on what I do. It never happens.
Love the honesty here. I can totally relate to #3 and #8. One of my favorite lies to myself: if it’s small, it has less calories! hehehe
Number 8 is totally me! I just have no self-control… Great post!
Thanks, Sissi! Have a great weekend!
Right? Maybe it’s a justification we all aim to make but fail at miserably, lol!
Food makes me happy therefore, I can be happier…and happier…and happier…no? =)
Thanks, Tandy!
i have self control..i tell myself to eat lots of food + i do! hehe when u hungry just say “yummy yummy yummy i got love in my tummy!” then u will feel full. hahaha~ #10 lie u misspelled..should say..i DON’T feel sexy!
We should get a shirt with that quote, Brain!!
