French Press Coffee
Up until a couple years ago, I never drank coffee {this from a girl who even worked as a barista}. I guess it’s not too hard to believe that I’m naturally energetic so I never found the need for it but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve procured an appreciation for a nice café noir. There’s nothing quite like a good cup of coffee with coffee cake or how the rich smell of fresh coffee brewing fills your home.

- Cold filtered water heated to 195-205
- 1-2 tb coarse coffee grinds per 1 cup of water
- {I like 2 g/28 g water}
- Heat your water to 195-205. Allow it to sit for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the coffee to the bottom of the French press and slowly pour in the water. Leave the top off and allow the coffee to bloom. A swollen cake will float to the top. Skim off any excess grounds with a spoon or two {optional}
- Wait 4 minutes and stir. Now you can put the top on and very slowly plunge.
- Make sure the plunger doesn’t have any old grounds in it and make sure to empty the press of its coffee as it continues to steep and will get bitter.
Did you know that you can use your press as a makeshift Randall and milk frother? This is my favorite French press and I use it for loose leaf teas too.
Love,
Your Squishy Monster ^.~

I have never used a french press before – and I am a coffee addict – er, I meant coffee lover
Very interesting Angie. Thanks for sharing this. I lovethat music and intro to this video. Have a great week end!
Love.

I used to drink coffee, but I don’t anymore. I’ve always wanted to know how a French press works. They look so cool
G’day! I have had French Press coffee before but never with coconut water Angela, true!
I am a BIG coffee fan and married to a barista too!
I hope you’ll try it sometime, I really enjoy the mouthfeel of a press.
I also like to use it with my loose leaf teas.
Thanks, I hope you enjoy your weekend!
My pleasure!
Oh wow, this French press may persuade me to drink some coffee
French Press Coffee rocks.
Such a great aroma to wake up with.
I love my French press!
They’re freaking awesome aren’t they?
For sure!
It’s great with cookies!
Embarrassing admission time: I’ve had a french press coffee maker for years now, but I only pull it out of the closet when I need a photography prop. I’ve never actually used it to make a legitimate cup of coffee! It’s a real shame, especially as you’ve illustrated just how easy it is. Thanks to your inspiring example, I’m going to give it a real shot when I get back home. I’m a big coffee fan and a new way to brew can only be a good thing.
I don’t get out of bed until I’ve had a cup of coffee!
not too big on coffee unless it a latte! hehe but i do love the Vanilla CHAI!
It’s a good one to have around…Love the coffee!
I like to cold brew my coffee, which I know you can do with a french press and I so need to get one! Draining it in a colander lined with paper towels is kind of lame lol.
French press is the way to go. It really makes the best coffee.
Great french press tutorial!!
I have always been crazy for the coffee smell so as soon as my mother allowed me, I started to drink it every day and am a proud addict
I make it in the Italian stovetop “mocha” pot, but I use the press at work. It’s funny that it’s called French press… I think most homes in France have drop machines.
I hear that too, lol. I also hear that coffee stunts your growth but I don’t know what they’re talking about {I’m a towering 5’3!}
Thanks, Jo!
I do believe it! So much so that I’ve yet to be converted over to the pour-over.
Though I have to say, it sounds interesting–please kiss those chubby Joshua cheeks for me!!
I’ve been abusing the heck out of it as a milk frother lately too, lol!
I’ve wanted one of those teeny tiny ones now for awhile for the same purpose =)
I’ve been making some bomb lattes with that press used as a frother. {I think I may or may not have gone a bit overboard with it though, lol} I think it might need a rest…at least a day or two =)
They should devise an alarm clock that’s connected to a coffee dispenser to wake you out of your slumber with the smell of freshly brewed coffee!!
