Fake Food & Real Food
In anticipation of Labor Day, we fired up the grill early for these babies:
These are my new fridge magnets that my auntie bought me “just because.” Aren’t they just the cutest?
Here’s what really made my belly happy this weekend:
Blitz all of the above (except coconut) in a processor and dribble in enough vanilla to bind it all together. The agave or honey is optional. Scoop and roll in coconut.
100% raw & vegan…a perfect on-the-go morning boost. I’ve been alternating these with a cup of white tea with my kale & blueberry smoothies.
Kimchi bibim naengmyeun….this follows this recipe.
However, I made these with naengmyeun which is a combination of buckwheat & sweet potato starch similar to the dangmyeun for my Korean stir fried noodles. They have a much chewier texture.
Those are currently dads favorite candies. He slipped them in my hand telling me, “good candy to eat.”
Shumai & lettuce wraps for lunch.
Rosemary roasted chicken, wilted spinach, and smoked gouda mashed potatoes…family dinner to finish off the week together ^.^
I’ll be attempting to squeeze into Uptown tomorrow for Pack Away Hunger which will be crazy, I’m sure due to the DNC. I’m also excited about some farm fresh eggs my friend is giving me tomorrow. Their Hen has been busy and he has at least a dozen to spare. I go through butter and eggs like crazy and often consider moving somewhere where HOA can’t get me and I have lots of land to do my own thing.

I have fake food on my fridge too but it’s a little healthier (lol)–apples! Your hamburger magnets are too cute! oooh, I love those raw nut & date balls–haven’t made any in quite a while though. I like to add chocolate then it seems like I’m eating fudge. Your eats look so good, I especially want some of the Kimchi mixed noodles–drooool. Have you ever made kimchi at home? That’s something I’ve wanted to try for years and for some reason have never done it! My hubs looves kimchi.
You are a sweetheart for doing the Pack Away Hunger thing–bless you! It is very nice to have friends who can supply farm-fresh eggs. I simply can’t eat the cheap store-bought eggs (but I can eat what I bake with them-I’m weird) for imagining the cruel conditions the poor chickens have to endure. I love getting eggs from chickens I can see are happy.
I’ve gone through 3 dozen eggs and 2 lbs of butter in the last couple days. I feel you, girl! lol
Angie. 90% of these wonderful dishes I have tried and LOVE THEM ALL!Kale smoothies with watermelon are great!!I hope you can make it to your event and have a great time! Those candies look good, lol!
xoxoxo.

Oh my…those coconut fig thingies look really good! You always have the best food spreads here! And those kitchen magnets..if you hadn’t told me they were magnets…I would have thought it was a picture of the burgers you made this weekend. Too cute! : )
That chicken looks so good. I could use a few of those for a lunch someday.
Those magnets are adorable! I would have sworn that they were real burgers!
Yum, your eats look so good, especially your coconut pralines!
Thanks, Elena ^.^
They reaaaally don’t help late night burger cravings, lol.
My favorite part is the skin..Mmm!
Ooh, sounds interesting, I’ll have to give it a try…I’ve done Basil/Watermelon/ Lime/Watermelon/ and Mint/Watermelon, never Kale/Watermelon before.
I think I’m going to start collecting food magnets. Check out my recipe index, I have recipes for at least 3 or 4 different types of Kimchi. I currently have about 3 dozen farm fresh eggs and feel RIIICH! LOL
Thanks, girl!! I hope you had an awesome weekend!
Thanks, Tandy! =D
