Beach Bits
{aka beach bits, the last edition until next season}
The food:
Bacon, poached eggs, and goat cheese grits.
The final low country boil
Roasted shrimp and gouda pizza.
.
Regrettably, I wasn’t able to take this behemoth home but just wanted to say, isn’t that crazy?!
The sights:
The Oak Island Lighthouse.
This little fella didn’t even care to prance away even after I got really close.
Snapped at a bar literally extended over the water. We loved it so much that we went back twice in one day.
Mr. Pelican grooming, eating, and napping-what a life!
I wish I could hang a hammock in this tree, sip sweet tea, and read all day…daydream #567
For a girl obsessed with mermaids, this was the cutest.store.EVER. Now, if only I could find a shop that sold both mermaids and zombies.
A rare sunny day!!
Parting is such sweet sorrow. For a special someone…I know that sunshine can peek through even the grayest and stormiest of clouds but beauty like that can be imprinted into our minds and our hearts. No need to battle the storm by yourself. The sun will always come back again.
Love,
Your Squishy Monster ^.~

What a brilliant weekend of day dreaming and delicious food my friend
Oh, the food always looks so fantastic. I do low country boils all year long. I can’t give them up just because summer is over
Absolutely beautiful photos and I agree what a GIANT lobster!! The oyster pancakes look amazing I must say. I’m so jealous!
so much beauty! *sigh* summer don’t leeeeave
Wow, beautiful weekend. Nothing better than breakfast with a view. Those oyster pancakes and dipping sauce look INCREDIBLE!
Oh what a wonderful round-up. I want a seafood boil so badly now! Thank you for sharing
Yay for the beautiful food! I made my first low country boil this summer, but did it indoors like Suzie (used her recipe too). but dang, I’m going to have nightmares after seeing that huge lobster. Alien!! Love your little deer friend and the pic of you on the beach- lovely!
Beautiful photos of sceneries and foods. Roasted shrimp and gouda pizza that’s an unusual one, but it sounds delicious.

Looks like a wonderful weekend of fun, food, and sunshine.
Hi Angela, from the first picture to the last picture it’s woooooooweeeeeeeeeee EXCELLENT!
Such a lovely place, great food and wonderful pics!
Congrats on this post Angela.
Aww sorrow you have to say good bye to all the gorgeous sights and tastes of summer. Luckily fall brings it’s own brand of beauty too.
This is very true and I forget how much I love Autumn!
It was bittersweet as it’ll be the last time in that spot for awhile but lovely nonetheless
Hope we get to party together one day!
Best way to do it!
It truly was
You too, Brain!!
Wish I could share with y’all how it tasted!!
We missed the tour but caught a glimpse of some awesome wildlife right after so it worked out
I just knew I had to have it when I saw it.
Even though I won’t have access to the fresh off the boat shrimp like we did at the beach, I just might have to do that!
I’ll definitely check it out
Wish every morning started like that!
With the mild and rainy summer we had, I feel the same.
It’s my fave way to enjoy oysters.
You and me both! We should make a plan
Always happy to meet a fellow mermaid lover
Wow,
Gorgeous clicks! Love all the food!
Thank you, Asmita.
Beautiful photos. Those grits looks fantastic. Ah, summer.
Southern girl can’t be without her grits!
What an incredible weekend to enjoy the epitome of summer: great food, scenic outdoor activities and everything in between
I need to shove in some more last minute picnics, hikes, sno-cones, and a dip in the pool if I can!!
Such amazing pics, what a fabulous weekend you had. I am so in for the oyster pancakes and that breakfast.
Whoa! That is one CRAZY crustacean!
I am completely jealous of all the fun you are having on your trip! The low country boil looks delicious.
I would love to eat the “monster”! It must have made someone very happy The pancakes look fantastic (I only ever eat raw oysters and love them). You make a very beautiful mermaid actually
I hear that if it doesn’t sell, they get to take it home, lucky gusy!
I’ll bring the boil, you bring the dessert =)
A crazy one that I wish were in my belly! =)
I’m now wondering how it would be to have oyster pancakes for breakfast, delish, I bet!
I know there is such beautiful scenery and awesome looking food, and great shopping but, for some reason, Angela, I have a fixation on those Goat Cheese Grits.
It sure sounds like and looks like you had a fabulous time! I’m missing the ocean so much this year. I’m still trying to get down to Long Island for at least one weekend to smell that salty ocean breeze. (and hopefully get some Lobster, not that big, of course:)
Thank you so much for sharing…at least if I don’t get there I have your post to get me through:)
I can appreciate that. Somehow, goat cheese manages to elevate most experiences for me, lol
