What Do My Friends Eat?
Whenever I go grocery shopping, I like to peek into other peoples carts to see what they’re getting. I find that it can be endlessly fascinating. How exactly can a guy survive on just gatorade and frozen pizzas, I wonder. I feel like you can tell a lot about a person from what they have in their cart. In mine, you’ll find it loaded with lots of fresh produce tangled with sweets (like it’s business in the front, party in the back) This idea is what inspired this post. I wanted to investigate into what a typical meal looked like for others and so I began with those around me. So with an enthusiastic, peeping-foodie (sure, that’s a thing) spirit, join me in discovering what they eat.
Faith and Dustin, college students/husband-wife team.
Their main objective is to eat well while on a budget. Chicken Alfredo with roasted tomatoes and garlic bread.
Aaron, the personal chef.
“I cook what I have a taste/time for most nights. Tonight it was pan seared chicken, fried green tomatoes (from my garden), and steamed broccoli.”
Troy, the professional photographer.
Constantly on the go while maintaining a vegetarian lifestyle, but what is this you ask? A CLT, he informed me (which I thought was just named after our city). Nope. It’s like a BLT but with chips instead of bacon
Katie, the gardener.
Eating well and eating fresh is her motto. Pearl couscous.
Trevor, the IT specialist.
For someone who’s often on-call, Trevor says that “these {egg and kale /quinoa patties} are easy enough and not too heavy for nights when I find myself eating dinner at 2 am.”
Jenn, the burlesque dancer.
The life of a dancer ain’t easy but somebody’s gotta do it! On the healthy menu? Salmon, corn, broccoli, and kombucha.
I’d love to know, what does a typical meal look like for you and what do your friends eat?
Love,
Your oh-so-curious Squishy Monster ^.~

I do that too, look at other peoples trolleys! It’s fascinating isn’t it? My typical dinner is whatever the kids will eat and thankfully, they’re good about everything, but I also have to prepare for the vegetarian in the family. Usually an Indian curry, Asian food, pastas on soccer nights, lots of Middle Eastern food too.

My go to is chicken breast! I buy the huge case of it at Costco and freeze it so I always have it on hand. I do an easy teriyaki chicken stir fry when I’m short on time or sometimes even chicken katsu!
I love this foodie diptych! A great portrait of your friends.
how fun and cool!
Luuurve this series. I too am intrigued at what others eat though I can be a lil judgmental when seeing what people stuff in their trolleys at Costco lol I.e. multiple tubs of caramel popcorn, boxes of cake haha. I swear that ain’t me! It’s do interesting too read about what friends eat – great post
a salad, bowl of ice cream, bowl of cereal, hot dogs+beans, burgers, etc, etc….then u wonder why i rather see what u eating! hahaaha
What amuses me most about this post is how diverse and interesting your friends are! I’ve got a SAHM that home schools, a Tupperware lady, a nurse, a librarian, and the rest work for the PO! lol! Anyway, what is it that your friend Trevor is eating that is covered by eggs? Just curious. And now I want a CLT but with cream cheese on the sandwich for the C part! mmm. such a fun post, Squishy!
Amazing and interesting post Squishy!
I love spying in other people’s carts also. Although…I am sometimes totally judgmental about those that only have chips and oreos!
That is such a fun idea for a post! I do also peak at other people’s cart in the store. Well from your post people are what they eat, no kidding.
Lol, for sure!
That is definitely me at 3 am on a random night, lol!
Thanks, Tandy!
I need to fix that, lol. It’s eggs with kale patties. Thanks, V!!
I would so eat all of that! =)
right? though my friends all think I eat like a). there’s an apocalypse or b). there’s a fat man living inside of me, lol.
Thanks, Kayle!
Thanks, Irina!
I do enjoy a katsu!
